Welcome to the May newsletter

For the third year in a row, I along with approximately 50,000 of my counterparts, will be celebrating International Virtual Assistants Day (IVAD) on Friday, 16 May 2008. This day of observance is honored by VA's around the globe to celebrate individual accomplishments and the important contributions we make to the growth and stability of small businesses everywhere.

I started my business way back in October 2004 to improve my work/life balance and to make a difference for my clients and enjoy the personal satisfaction from that. I have achieved that and more. I never imagined I would be where I am today with a shopfront in my town, an assistant, a Highly Recommended in the Australian Achievers Award and beautiful clients whom I adore working with.

It was also Office Professionals Day (formerly Secretaries Day) on Friday 2 May, so this month there are double the reasons to celebrate our industry.

Wishing you a happy and productive May and I hope you enjoy this edition of Net Secretary News.

Have a brainstorm idea that you just know could make you a household word, but you can't find the time to work on it? Call your virtual assistant to get the ball rolling.

Your own personal answering service while you're out of town.
It will give your customers/clients the personal interaction they crave and your VA can prioritize your messages so that you know which ones need immediate attention when you get home.

Pidgin
It's a royal pain to have to open a different chat application every time you want to keep in touch with someone who uses AIM, Yahoo!
Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, or another messaging network. With Pidgin, you can keep all the other chat apps on the shelf. This open-source IM client lets you communicate with users of all the above and a dozen other chat networks.

Quote for the Month

Too much caution is bad for you. By avoiding things you fear, you may let yourself in for unhappy consequences. It is usually wiser to stand up to a scary-seeming experience and walk right into it, risking the bruises as hard knocks.

You are likely to find it is not as tough as you had thought.

Or you may find it plenty tough, but also discover you have what it takes to handle it.

Until next month.
